The Uzima Wellness Program was established to respond to the growing need for accessible healthcare among low-income families. Many communities face barriers such as high medical costs, limited facilities, and lack of health education.
Uzima bridges this gap by providing free medical camps, health screenings, and awareness programs, reaching over 1,000 people each year. Through partnerships with healthcare professionals, institutions, and volunteers, Uzima ensures that individuals and families receive not only treatment but also the knowledge and resources to live healthier lives.
The program embodies Karura’s mission of holistic transformation — addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of those it serves.

Uzima operates through several key initiatives

Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists volunteer their expertise during medical camps.
Local leaders and volunteers help mobilize residents and identify those most in need.
Physical healing is integrated with spiritual encouragement and psychosocial support.
The care we received during the medical camp was not only professional but compassionate. It gave me hope and reminded me that we are not forgotten.
I had not seen a doctor in years until the Uzima medical camp came to our community. I received treatment and guidance that has greatly improved my health.

I am truly grateful for you invested in my education and at the end I have attained a good grade which will enable me to pursue my desired career in Nursing.

You have planted a seed of hope and generosity that will continue to grow within me, inspiring me to achieve more and also give back.

Thank you for walking this journey with me and for going out of your way to support my education. Your generous support and effort in ensuring my campus life was smooth meant more to me than words can express.

I would also like to give back to Tumaini at any given time so as to support the Mission and help other students benefit as I did.

Access to healthcare should not depend on income. Uzima brings quality, compassionate medical care right to the heart of the community. By combining medical outreach with education and prayer, the program not only heals bodies but restores dignity and hope.
